Paula Wong, NCTMFounder & InstructorPaula is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (Piano) through the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). She earned a Master of Arts degree in Piano (2003) from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with Dr. Betty Mallard. As an undergraduate at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Paula studied piano performance at the Conservatory of Music under Professor JoAnn Baker. Paula is currently the Immediate Past President of the Austin District Music Teachers Association, the local affiliate of TMTA and MTNA, and a member of the Board of Directors of TMTA.
Paula also earned a law degree from Baylor University School of Law (1988). After practicing law for ten years, she returned to her true passion---music and teaching music! While completing her Masters degree, Paula founded her piano teaching studio in 2000. Two decades later, the studio has grown to include students of all ages and experience levels. These students perform well in local and state performance festivals, contests, and theory exams. Paula is married to the Honorable Todd T. Wong, Travis County Court at Law Judge. They have two grown children and several "furry" children who sometimes make an appearance at the piano studio. |
Julia Masters, NCTMInstructorA native Texan, Julia began her piano studies at the age of 4. As a frequent performer and scholarship recipient, Julia went on to obtain a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. During her time at UT, Julia studied piano performance with Professor David Renner and piano pedagogy with Professor Sophia Gilmson. Julia was a finalist in the Nilsson Solo Piano Competition and has performed chamber music at the Blanton Museum of Art for Austin's Cultural Campus Concert Crawl. Julia has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Italy and continues to do so throughout Texas.
Julia is Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through the Music Teachers National Association and an active member of the Texas Music Teachers Association and Austin District Music Teachers Association. Julia was awarded "Teacher of the Year" by the Austin District Music Teachers Association for both the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. When she is not teaching or practicing piano, Julia enjoys practicing yoga and spending time with her chihuahua, Blondie. |
